Yogurt was the most popular fermented food consumed for health reasons in Japan, according to a survey conducted in March 2025. "NattÅ" ranked the highest among foods related to Japanese food tradition ("washoku"), with over 49 percent of respondents eating the fermented soybean product for their gut or overall health.
