Number of participants of the Finlandia Ski Marathon 1974-2023

The Finlandia ski marathon, Finlandia-hiihto, reached the then-world record of highest number of participants in 1984. In 2023, there were 4,243 participants competing in the Finnish cross-country skiing race.

The marathon began in 1973, but was cancelled due to the lack of snow that year. It was first in 1974 that participant-numbers were recorded.

The competition was cancelled in 2020 due to very little snow exposure. The following year of 2021 was also cancelled because of the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.
