In 2024, Western Europe became the leading region for crime and thriller commissions from global streaming platforms, including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+, Disney+, Max/HBO Max, Netflix, and Paramount+, accounting for a record 43 percent of all titles ordered. In contrast, North America, which led the genre in 2020 with 40 percent, saw its contribution fall to just 19 percent by 2024. The shift shows Europe’s increasing importance as a production hub for internationally appealing scripted content.
