In 2025, the dog sledding race Finnmarksløpet in Norway was won by Norwegian musher Harald Tunheim. Petter Karlsson, who won the race multiple times since 2016, is the only non-Norwegian recorded to have won the race.
Finnmarksløpet is often considered the longest dog sled race in Europe, and takes place in Finnmark in Norway. It consists of three races, the junior race, Finnmarksløpet 600, and Finnmarksløpet 1200. From 2018, the longest race was 1,200 kilometers with 14 dogs, before that, it was 1,000 kilometers with 12 dogs maximum.
