Popular types of gaming-related purchases in China 2025

In a survey of online gamers in China conducted by Rakuten Insight in January 2025, in-game items or virtual goods such as skins and avatars were the most popular online game-related purchases. About a third of respondents had also bought a game or paid for in-game currencies in the past six months prior the survey period.
