In 2024, over 96 percent of hospitals in the United States offered breastfeed consultants for maternity patients. Generally this was provided in the hospital. Moreover, close to 90 percent of hospitals allowed doulas for labor and delivery, which is associated with better birthing experience and outcome. Just 84 percent of hospitals allowed for VBAC attempt. This means that at 16 percent of hospitals, the birthing individual must have a c-section after a previous cesarean delivery, which is unnecessary most of the time.
