As of October 2023, *** female employees in the mining, quarrying, and gravel industries in Japan who had a child between October 2021 and September 2022 were granted parental leave. At the same time, **********of the male employees in the living-related and personal services and amusement services took parental leave.
Among the employees whose child was born between October 1, 2021, and September 30, 2022, the share of those who started (or applied for) parental leave by October 1, 2023. Parental leave in this case includes postnatal paternal leave that can be taken independently.
Based on survey results of 3,495 business establishments conducted during October 1 and October 31, 2023.
