As of 2024, there were a reported 94 bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS) facilities under development. Out of those 94, 53 were in advanced stages of development and three were under construction. Among these, the largest is the Sustainable Fuels Group CIP blue ammonia plant in the United States, currently in advanced development with a projected capture capacity of five million metric tons of CO2 annually.
