As of January 2025, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (or MCU) was the highest-grossing movie franchise at the so-called North American box office (i.e., the United States and Canada) with a revenue of almost 12.5 billion U.S. dollars. The series encompasses other franchises, including three that made it to the top 10: Spider-Man (which grossed 3.7 billion dollars at the box office), Avengers (2.6 billion dollars), and X-Men (3.1 billion dollars). The MCU was also the highest-grossing film franchise worldwide.
