In 2022, around 39,200 vehicle crashes were classified as fatal, which was about 0.66 percent of all reported vehicle crashes in the United States. This was a decline of 1.4 percent from the year 2021. Out of 5.9 million police-reported vehicle crashes in 2022, 71.3 percent of them had only caused property damage, while 28.1 percent had caused injuries.
