Uranium production from in situ leach (ISL) was the largest production category as of 2022, when ISL production amounted to 27,307 metric tons worldwide. That same year, uranium production from underground mines (including open pit figures, excluding Olympic Dam) came to 18,569 metric tons worldwide, making it the second-largest category of uranium production methods.
