As of March 2024, Android operating systems for smartphones held a market share of 53.4 percent in Australia. Android has consistently been the leading mobile phone operating system in the country, however, iOS has been increasing its market share over the past decade.

The dominance of the Android operating system on the global smartphone market can be seen in the Australian market. It's biggest competition has been Apple's iOS. The fierce competition between the two smartphone operating systems has intensified over the years, with iOS accounting for a significantly larger market share recently.
