Proved crude oil reserves in the United States have been on an increasing trend since the 1990's. In 2020, the North American country's reserves reached 8.2 billion metric tons, up from 3.7 billion tons in the beginning of the decade.

* Total proved reserves of oil: generally taken to be those quantities that geological and engineering information indicates with reasonable certainty can be recovered in the future from known reservoirs under existing economic and operating conditions.
Reserves include gas condensate and natural gas liquids (NGLs) as well as crude oil.
