Coal consumption in Mexico 2009-2023
Coal consumption in Mexico amounted to 260 petajoules in 2023, an increase of over eight percent in comparison to the previous year. The coal consumption in 2021 amounted to 200 petajoules and was the lowest figure reported by the country since at least 2009. In contrast, the consumption of this fossil fuel in Mexico reached the peak of the period in 2017, at 640 petajoules.
