The agency model facilitates travel bookings by acting as the agent in the transaction, passing reservations booked by the customer to the relevant travel portal. Expedia receives commissions or ticketing fees from the travel suppliers and/or traveler.

The advertising and media model offers travel and non-travel advertisers access to a potential source of incremental traffic and transactions via media and advertising offerings on trivago or Expedia’s other transaction-based websites.
