Monthly income of migrant laborers in China 2024, by region

One yuan equals approximately 0.14 U.S. dollars and 0.12 euros (as of May 2025).

The data have been collected through a survey which covered rural workers from 31 provinces, 1,730 districts and 8,613 villages.

Migrant laborers are defined as people who are still registered as rural permanent residents, but leave their place of origin in order to seek work elsewhere. Those included in this statistic had left their homes for more than six months in their search for work. The workers either stay in their home province or leave for another profit in a bid to find employment.

East China includes Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Shandong, Guangdong, and Hainan.
Central China includes Shanxi, Anhui, Jiangxi, Henan, Hubei, and Hunan.
West China includes Inner Mongolia, Guangxi, Chongqing, Guizhou, Yunnan, Tibet, Shaanxi, Gansu, Qinghai, Ningxia, and Xinjiang. 
Northeast China includes Liaoning, Jilin, and Heilongjiang.
