The net issuance of exchange traded funds (ETF) shares amounted to approximately 597 billion U.S. dollars in 2023. This was a significant increase compared to 74 billion in 2006, despite the slight decline observed in 2023. Net issuance of shared for ETFs effectively tracks the overall net amount of money flowing into (or out of) ETFs over a given period.
