As well as having the most units across leading coffee shop chains, Costa Coffee was the leading coffee shop chain with the highest revenue in the UK in 2023, with the company generating over one billion British pounds in revenue that year. Meanwhile, Costa Coffee's competitors, Starbucks and Caffè Nero, both generated revenue of less than 600 million British pounds in 2023.

Starbucks is the only non-British company in the ranking. Although the company’s popularity failed to match the success of Costa Coffee in 2023, the number of Starbucks stores in the UK was higher than in any other European country. The overall number of Starbucks stores in the UK has grown gradually since 2012, with the company from Seattle seeing increases in both licensed stores and company-operated stores since 2020.
