Number of passengers uplifted by United Kingdom airlines 2024

EasyJet was the largest airline based in the United Kingdom by annual passenger numbers. In 2024, the low-cost carrier transported just under 42.4 million passengers. EasyJet was founded in 1995 and has seen an astonishing market growth until the COVID-19 pandemic hit, when passenger numbers dropped substantially. However, the operational performances of the company have been improving since 2021.

UK air passenger experience

While many people have returned to flying following the pandemic, air travelers in the UK have had to contend with disruptions to their flight experience. The share of air passengers in the UK who did not experience any disruption was 42 percent, according to the survey conducted in October 2023, slightly more than the previous year. In comparison, the number of complaints against UK airlines increased by 39 percent compared to Q3 of 2022.
