LEED project certifications per real estate type in selected U.S. states as of 2025

Offices and retail property were the types of buildings with highest number of LEED certifications in most U.S. states as of May 2025. In California, for instance, over ***** offices and mixed-use offices received this certification for green buildings - a figure that is higher than in the state of New York and Texas combined. There were other differences between the states, however: there were *** K-12 buildings in Ohio with a certification, more than in any other state. Note that the figures provided are cumulative - meaning that all buildings with such a certification are included, even if they were built or certified several years ago. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental design.
