The number of people employed in the private finance and insurance sector in the United Kingdom (UK) increased between 2015 and 2022, while employees of the public finance and insurance sector decreased over the same period. As of 2022, roughly 46,000 people were employed (including working proprietors) in the UK's public finance sector, and over one million were employed in the UK's private finance sector.
