In 2024, the leading sector in terms of the number of merger and acquisition (M&A) deals in Western Europe was the technology, media, and telecom (TMT) sector. In that year, merger and acquisition deals in the TMT sector accounted for 2,840 out of the over 13,000 M&A deals targeting companies in Western Europe. In the last five years, the TMT macro industry was consistenty experienced the highest number of M&As in Western Europe, followed by the business services sector.
