The value of debit card payments in the Netherlands grew by 25 billion euros between 2021 and 2022, the largest increase seen since 2000. Before that, the total value of transactions increased steadily with small fluctuation. In 2022, approximately 173 billion euros worth of card payments were carried out in the Netherlands.
