Average cinema ticket price in Poland 2024-2028

Cinema ticket prices in Poland are set to experience a gradual increase over the coming years. While the average ticket cost 19.5 zloty in 2023, it is projected to reach 21.8 zloty by 2028. This modest rise reflects the overall growth of Poland's cinema industry, which is expected to see its market value climb from 1.1 billion zloty in 2023 to over 1.4 billion zloty by 2028.

Box office performance and revenue streams

Despite the relatively low ticket prices, Polish cinemas have seen impressive box office earnings. In July 2023, a single weekend generated over 4.8 million U.S. dollars, driven by the release of "Barbie." This performance highlights the potential for blockbuster releases to significantly boost cinema revenues. Major cinema chains like Multikino are diversifying their income sources, with a substantial portion of their 2023 revenue (266.6 million zloty) coming from services provided at premises, in addition to ticket sales. 

Industry resilience and future outlook

The Polish cinema industry has shown resilience in recent years. Although box office revenue peaked at over 280 million U.S. dollars in 2018, the sector has been quick to rebound from challenges. As of September 2024, cinema box office revenue stood at 117.37 million U.S. dollars, indicating a steady recovery. With major chains like Multikino reporting a net profit of 61.42 million zloty in 2023, the industry appears well-positioned for future growth. The projected increase in ticket prices, coupled with expanding revenue streams, suggests a positive outlook for Poland's cinema market in the coming years.
