In Russia, the mean price of a cinema ticket reached 310.8 Russian rubles in 2023, marking an 8.2-percent increase from the previous year. To compare, in 2018, a cinema ticket across the country cost around 251 Russian rubles on average.

Is movie going popular in Russia?

Approximately 30 percent of Russians aged 18 to 30 years stated in a survey that they went to the movies at least a month in 2022. In that year, around 80 million people visited movie theaters in the country. Russia was behind many other countries in Europe by the number of cinema admissions per capita.

The number of cinema sites in Russia has almost tripled over the last decade, peaking in 2023 at around 2,300 nationwide. To compare, in 2009, that figure was recorded at 738. Furthermore, Russia was the second leading country by the number of cinema screens in Europe. In 2023, the country counted over 5,800 cinema screens, being only superseded by France.
