In Germany, 84.7 percent of the total land transport was covered by passenger car in 2022. Germany ranked above the EU-28 average of 82.4 percent, but still below Montenegro, where passenger cars were responsible for 98 percent of passenger land travel in 2022, the highest share among European countries. By comparison, Austria had the lowest share of car usage, at 72.1 percent.
