Global share of protected land 1990-2014
This statistic displays the percentage of terrestrial land that has been protected in regions worldwide from 1990 to 2014. In 1990, only 9.1 percent of land in developed regions were considered protected, but as of 2014, some 14.4 percent of lands in these regions were protected. Globally, some 15.2 percent of terrestrial and inland water areas were protected.
