The ratio of government expenditure to GDP in Malawi was estimated at approximately 26.42 percent in 2024. Between 2002 and 2024, the ratio rose by around 12.58 percentage points, though the increase followed an uneven trajectory rather than a consistent upward trend. The ratio is forecast to decline by about 2.56 percentage points from 2024 to 2030, fluctuating as it trends downward.
