By the end of 2022, roughly 3.5 million people in Finland had completed a post-compulsory education qualification. The majority of higher level education qualifications in Finland were completed by women. While there were 293 thousand women with master's level qualification, the corresponding figure for men was 218 thousand. Meanwhile, the number of men with basic or upper secondary education qualification was higher than the number of women.

Upper secondary / Post-secondary non tertiary education = ISCED 3/4
Lowest level tertiary = ISCED 5
Bachelor level = ISCED 6
Master level = ISCED 7
Second stage of tertiary education = ISCED 8
