The vacancy rate of office real estate in Barcelona, Spain, increased in 2024 compared to the previous year. In the fourth quarter of 2024, approximately 13.2 percent of office space was vacant, up from 6.7 percent in 2019, before the coronavirus outbreak. The office vacancy rate in Madrid, the other business hub of Spain, was lower than in Barcelona. In Europe, some of the markets with the lowest share of vacant space were Vienna, Luxembourg, and Hamburg.
