EU-27: main exporting countries of semi-finished steel products from 2010-2023
In 2023, Germany exported over 22.5 million metric tons of semi-finished and finished steel products, representing a slight increase compared to the previous year. In the period of consideration, Germany has been by far the leading European exporter of such products, with the peak year recorded in 2011 at over 26.3 million metric tons.
Semi-finished steel products are mainly used in industry for the further production of finished steel products. They are produced through the continuous casting of liquid steel or by rolling or forging of steel ingots.
