In June 2020, 15 thousand prisoners were working for the Prison administration. More specifically, 12.3 thousand inmates worked in the service sector within the institute, the most common position in jail. Moreover, about one thousand inmates were employed in the ordinary maintenance.
Regional data show that 1.8 thousand inmates in Campania were working for the Prison Administration, the largest value nationwide. Additionally, 1.7 thousand prisoners had the same occupancy in Lombardy.
