In 2022, 20.8 percent of Australian children aged between 8 to 11 years old were overweight, and about 8.1 percent were obese. The age group with the greatest share of obese children was 12 to 15 years old at 8.8 percent.

Body Mass Index is derived from measured height and weight.
In 2022, 56.8% of respondents aged 2–17 years did not have their height, weight or both measured. For these respondents, imputation was used to obtain height, weight and BMI scores.
