In 2023, the pig stock in Indonesia amounted to approximately 7.3 million heads. Although around 87 percent of the Indonesian population is Muslim, pigs remain an important livestock, especially in the eastern parts of Indonesia such as Nusa Tenggara, Bali, South Sulawesi, and Papua provinces.
