In 2022, approximately 108,733 aliens were removed from the United States by the Department of Homeland Security. Another 261,387 alien returns occurred during the same year.
Removals are the compulsory movement of an inadmissible or deportable alien out of the U.S. by an order of removal, while returns are the movement of an inadmissible or deportable alien out of the U.S. without an order of removal.
