Most common e-commerce payment methods in Finland 2023
Based on the 2023 e-commerce survey, online banking was the most common payment method for online purchases in Finland. Roughly 60 percent of Finns said that they had used online banking, followed by mobile payment methods with 30 percent. Two percent of Finnish online shoppers paid by invoice.
Finnish customers favor debit card payments
In terms of online payments, a Statista Global Consumer Survey in 2021 shows that 66 percent of respondents use debit card for online payments. Other online payment services, such as PayPal and Amazon Pay, ranked second and reached a total of 62 percent.
Among the other online payment methods Paypal was most the used service with 75 percent of consumers using it. The Finnish online payment service Nordea Siirto was only used by 18 percent of the surveyed Finns.
Payment by invoice ranks first place in B2B e-commerce
The most common payment method offered by businesses for B2B e-commerce customers in Finland in 2021 was payment by invoice. Payment in advance, card payment, and online banking payment were also common payment methods, accounting for over 30 percent each.
