Share of votes in English elections 1918-2024
In the 2024 general election, the Labour Party won 34.4 percent of the vote in England, compared with 25.9 percent for the Conservatives, 13.2 percent for the Liberal Democrats, and 26.5 percent for other parties. English voters represent over 80 percent of the electorate in the United Kingdom, with 543 of the 650 seats in the United Kingdom's House of Commons belonging to MPs from England. Due to this fact, the share of votes across the United Kingdom as a whole is very similar to England. Between 1918 and 2024, the largest vote share a party has achieved in England was in 1931 when the Conservative party won 63.5 percent of the vote.
