In 1945, Kristin Hanssen of the Norwegian Communist Party became the first female member of a government in Norway when she was Minister of Social Affairs. Since then, the share of women in Norwegian Governments increased steadily, reaching over 50 percent for the first time in 2007 under Jens Stoltenberg's Second Government. Since then, around 50 percent of the ministers in the Norwegian governments have been women.
