National highways as a share of total road accident deaths in India 2005-2022

In 2022, about percent of the total deaths due to road accidents happened on national highways across India. Each year, about three to five percent of the GDP of the country was invested in road accidents. About percent of accidents involved young Indians. The country has about percent of the global vehicle population but it accounted for percent of the world's road traffic accidents.
