In 2024, the consumption volume of salmon produced grew by three percent in total. The total volume consumed in the EU market grew by 5.6 percent in comparison to the previous year.
Harvest volume
In 2021, Mowi’s global harvest volume of salmon totaled at approximately 2.6 million metric tons of gutted weight. Salmon harvested in Norway accounted for about than 50 percent of the total volume, amounting to about 1.4 million metric tons. Other countries for the harvest were Chile, Scotland, North America, the Faroe Islands, Australia and Ireland.
ASC certified sites
The non-profit organization Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) uses a certification and labelling program for sustainable and responsible aquaculture producers. In 2020, 128 sites of Mowi ASA had the ASC certification. Among these sites, most were in Norway, followed by Canada and Ireland.
