In 2023, a study found that nearly six percent of adults drove under the influence of alcohol in Brazil. By age group, when asked whether they had driven after having consumed alcoholic beverages, around eight percent of respondents who affirmatively answered were aged between 35 and 44 years. Those between 25 and 34 years followed, with 7.6 percent admitting to having driven under the influence of alcohol. Drink-driving was more common among men than women in Brazil.

The survey was carried out in the capital city of each of the 26 Brazilian states, plus the Federal District of Brasília.
