This statistic shows the percentage distribution of trips abroad by residents of Spanish households in 2016, by main means of transportation used. That year most of the trips abroad were made in air transport, ahead of those made in own vehicle.
The data correspond to estimates of the Tourism Survey of residents of the National Statistics Institute of Spain. Since February 2015, this continues the Statistics of tourist movements of the Spanish (Familitur) of the General Subdirectorate of Knowledge and Tourism Studies of Spain.
* Travel to places outside the habitual residence environment, for any reason, involving at least one overnight stay and a duration of less than one year.
The source does not offer the data of trips in railroad.
** Own vehicle includes cars, motorcycles, caravans or other private motor vehicles used for ground transportation, with capacity of up to eight seats, own or given for free.
