Food-borne disease outbreaks in South Korea 2023, by place
In 2023, out of a total of 359 outbreaks of food-borne diseases, 200 occurred in food service businesses such as restaurants. As the year 2020 marked the beginning of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, lockdowns, and restrictions on dining out, the number of food-borne disease outbreaks was much lower than in previous years. The numbers of food-borne disease outbreaks increased again in 2021.
