Number of employees of AkzoNobel 2010-2023

AkzoNobel is a (Euronext) listed Dutch multinational focused on the manufacturing of paints and coatings for customers worldwide. The company is headquartered in Amsterdam and active in more than 80 countries. As of 2022, AkzoNobel employed an average of 34,900 people, an increase compared to the previous year. The total revenue of AkzoNobel fluctuated between 13 and 15 million billion euros between 2008 and 2015, in 2022 it was around 10.8 billion euros.

Steady financial development performance coatings

Examining the revenue by business area, the performance coatings generated approximately five to six billion euros a year between 2013 and 2022. However, the decorative paintings revenue decreased from roughly five billion euros in 2010 to four billion euros in 2022. In terms of the origin of the revenue, approximately 1.4 billion euros was generated in China, whereas 1.2 billion euros and 882 million euros originated from North America and the United Kingdom respectively in 2021.

Significant increase net income

The net income attributable to the shareholders of AkzoNobel increased significantly in 2020. In 2017, the net income amounted to 832 million euros, whereas in 2018 it increased to 6.6 billion euros. Important to point out is that this difference is caused by the high amount of discontinued operations.
