Credit card payments, combined with delayed debit card transactions, were worth nearly 3.1 billion euros in 2022, an increase of over 30 percent. This is according to figures from Spain's central bank. The exact market size of credit cards in Spain is unknown, as the country does not investigate or report such figures. It is one of the very few countries in the world to do so. "Pure" credit cards, so the source wrote, are used much less than the delayed debit cards. Spain also does not report such figures to other organizations, such as the European Central Bank or the Bank for International Settlements.
