This statistic presents the length of time it took between first seeking help from a health care professional and receiving a mental illness diagnosis among Canadians with experience with mental illness, as of 2015. It was found that 21 percent of respondents stated they themselves, a family member, or the person they cared for were diagnosed with a mental illness immediately after seeking help from a health care professional.
