The nuclear power production in Taiwan was around 18 terawatt hours in 2023. Electric power generation in the nuclear industries in Taiwan decreased from around 40 terawatts hours before 2014 and reached a minimum in 2017, with just approximately 22 terawatt hours of nuclear electricity generation.
In 2016, the Taiwanese government motioned to phase out nuclear power by 2025. Nonetheless, in 2018 the majority of the population voted against the withdrawal of the nuclear industry in Taiwan and the policy against nuclear power facilities was removed in 2019.
