While the youth unemployment rate increased significantly in the first phase of the observed period, the increase slowed down in the last years. The youth unemployment rate of a country or region refers to the share of the total workforce aged 15 to 24 that is currently without work, but actively searching for employment. It does not include economically inactive persons such as full-time students or the long-term unemployed.
