Among its subsidiaries, Burger King had the most franchise restaurants, with 19.7 thousand franchise units and 50 company-operated restaurants.

Restaurant Brands International was formed in December 2014 by the merger of Burger King and Tim Hortons. On March 27, 2017, Restaurant Brands International also acquired Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Inc. and its consolidated subsidiaries. Firehouse Subs was acquired by RBI in 2021.
