Quarterly number of outbound trips from Norway 2019-2020, by destination type

The number of outbound trips from Norway fell sharply in 2020 over the previous year, due to the travel restrictions put in place to face the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. While Norwegian outbound travelers took nearly one million trips to seaside destinations in the third quarter of 2019, the number of trips to seaside locations abroad dropped to 50 thousand in the third quarter of 2020. Meanwhile, Norway recorded just 10 thousand outbound journeys to city destinations in the fourth quarter of 2020, whereas Norwegian tourists took 570 thousand city outbound trips in the same period of 2019.
